The drop out rate of youth from formal education begins and gradually increases with each grade as more youth being pushed to fend for themselves and their families therefore becoming part of informal economy.
United Way Delhi envisions a future where despite the disparities, each youth is formally skilled and capable of gaining employment.
Karvaan is a resource center for school-going, dropout, and graduate youth to develop as leaders and mentors in their community and take a field level action on local issues of relevance; becoming socially responsible citizens. The center envisages for itself, to be the knowledge hub to accelerate individual growth through Remedial Classes, Digital & Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Youth Leadership Life skills, Vocational Skill development, Sport, Career Counselling, Personality Development, Sexual Health & Hygiene, Emotional and Mental Health Awareness.
The School Centered Community Development Program of United Way Delhi envisages that all students achieve their full potential through contextual interventions in early childcare & education, primary and higher education, skill-building in the youth, and the care giver & community awareness. The program has threes tages namely Born Learning, School Support Program, and Youth Resource Center.
My School Program and has been designed to support and upgrade quality of learning in government schools and schools run by non-profit agencies for marginalized children in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The program aims to improve physical infrastructure & facilities of the schools, along strengthening the participation of community in the education of children.
