#WhyWaste 2020

“#WhyWaste Campaign” is an innovative approach aimed at reducing & reusing plastic and upcycling the non-biodegradable waste generated at home and/or communities. A collective effort of mobilizing the caring power of community members towards environmental sustainability through the means of conscious upcycling of plastic at home.

United Way Delhi within the short span of time reached out to 1Lakh+ netizens and received 2500+ registrations and entries on plastic upcycling ideas from across India with great enthusiasm and creativity. Resident Welfare Associations also participated in the campaign and collected Eco-Bricks individually to support the cause. On 2nd October 2020, the campaign culminated with the participants pledging to continue their sustainable efforts.

BCG Service Day (Global Service Day)

Corporate Volunteers signed up for the Service Day activities to help the marginalized families, shelter homes, orphanages during the current difficult times. United Way Delhi guided volunteers with preparation of essential kits: 1. Hygiene kit 2. Stationary Kit 3. Food Kit.  

In addition, volunteers were also paired with students for guidance and career orientation focusing on resume writing, mock interview and soft skills training. Virtual sessions with students were facilitated to give exposure during the current times.  

VIA-Road Safety

An ongoing campaign of sister chapter United Way Mumbai implemented by United Way Delhi to make students and young people aware about the road accidents and life threatening casualties due to ignorance of road safety norms. Traffic and road awareness is vital for everyone to strictly follow. With relentless practices and sessions on road safety with public and private schools of Delhi NCR, we are not only striving for safer roads but a safer future.

Plog Run 2019

Last year, United Way Delhi with the aim of enabling sustainable development and building Young Environment Ambassadors, volunteers, engaged with prominent universities and trained young minds in sustainable practices. These volunteers were then deployed in schools across Delhi NCR to facilitate Eco clubs and encourage plastic free campus on the occasion of 2nd October. More than 1,500 ploggers pledged to make Delhi cleaner and greener. With the help of partners, Plog Run activity successfully collected 1.75 MT of plastic from 14 locations in Delhi NCR.

Day of Action

A dedicated day of community service wherein individual volunteers are encouraged to do their bit for the community. In the present COVID-19 times, our frontline workers have put their efforts throughout day and night. Our Children and Youth made ‘Thank You’ cards for the Sanitation Workers, Doctors, Medical and Non-Medical Staff to express gratitude.
